In the Trenches: Get to Know Rachel Hollister, Graphic Designer at The Companion Group

Rachel Hollister does graphic design here at The Companion Group, working on everything from product packaging to catalogs to apps. She’s a Fremont native and graduate of Cal State University – East Bay who started here at The Companion Group almost a year ago. We recently checked in with her about some important subjects like pizza, pop music, and whether a hot dog is a sandwich!

Q: What is your favorite thing about your workspace?

A: Having lots of room, color, and a candy bowl! Also, my Opae’ula (miniature red shrimp). They hang out and guard the office.

Q: Do you plan to go on any trips this year, or have you taken any recently?

A: This next summer I’ll be going to Jordan and Egypt. Super excited, I have wanted to go to Egypt for a long time!

Q: Any co-workers in departments other than yours who deserve a shout-out for being all-around awesome?

A: I think Matt A. and Carl deserve a BIG shout-out because they are always here to fix things when the world is falling apart on the tech side.

Q: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: Mangoes. Probably impractical, but I’m still sticking to that answer.

Q: J-Lo or Mariah?

A: J-Lo. Mariah is good too, but sometimes her voice gets unnaturally high-pitched and I am not sure how I feel about that.

Q: Is a hot dog a sandwich?

A: No way, it DOES NOT even face the same way as a sandwich. (Sorry Jonathan).

Q: What would you never put on a pizza?

A: Anchovies. Too salty. Also, I would feel terrible looking at their big eyes and then eating them.

Q: What’s your favorite part of the department you work in?

A: I think there is a great mixture of people over on the creative side and it creates a great and inspirational environment to work in for everyone.
